The Body Shop brand makes vegan and cruelty-free products and is well-known for its famous body lotions, hand creams, face masks, and its all-time favorite Tea Tree oil range products.
Tea tree oil is a popular natural antibacterial agent that provides numerous benefits for the skin. It is used to treat pimples and also helps in the prevention of future breakouts that those with oily or combination skin often face. It helps to cleanse the skin and reduce the appearance of scars.

It also promises to eliminate impurities and excess oil from the skin, leaving it fresh and clear. So read on to know more whether or not it does what it claims to do.
The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash Review: Does It Work?
Though chemical and cosmetic products provide immediate and instant effects, they are not safe for long-term use and have an adverse effect on the skin’s natural defense mechanism. And when it comes to healthy skin, nothing beats tree oil.
The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing face cleanser is one such natural product made to be gentle on blemished skin. It is meant to cleanse the skin without over-drying it and to provide a cooling and refreshing lather feel.
When used as part of a regular skincare routine, this facial wash is said to control oiliness without depleting your skin of essential moisture.
In this review of The Body Shop Tea Tree Facial Wash, we’ll look at the following aspects:
If you have sensitive skin, always perform a patch test to ensure your skin does not react to the tea tree oil. Incase, you experience any skin irritation or allergic reaction after using it contact your dermatitis and stop using it.
1. Ingredients
The Body Shop Skin Clearing Face Wash contains purifying tea tree oil from Mount Kenya’s foothills. Some of the essential constituents are Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, which is used to prevent acne, as well as Allantoin and Menthol, which aid to soothe the skin.
Other ingredients include glycerin and Panthenol (also known as pro-vitamin B5) are used to moisturize the skin. It also contains citric acid, which, like other AHAs, acts as an exfoliator, gently lifts off dead skin cells, and leaves your skin smooth and fresh.
The image below shows the complete list of ingredients used in this product.
Moving on, let’s take a look at the package for The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash.
2. Packaging
The Body Shop brand has taken a positive step toward bringing about societal change by combating plastic waste. As a result, they sell all of their products in recycled plastic bottles.
The Tea Tree Range Face Wash comes in attractive packaging. It comes in a dark, semi-translucent green bottle with a black secure flip-top cap that allows me to see how much product is left within the bottle. That’s a big plus!
The only thing they could have done better is to provide a pump dispenser instead of a flip-open top. So that controlling the amount of product dispersed would have been considerably easier.
The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash is also available in a tiny 60 ml package, making it easy to carry in a backpack or purse when traveling without spilling.
After looking at the package of facial wash let’s talk about its fragrance
3. Fragrance
The fragrance of a skincare product that you use on a daily basis is very important. In general, you would not select a facial wash that has an unpleasant or strong odor. However, if you have dry, combination, or sensitive skin, dermatologists recommend using a fragrance-free mild cleanser.
The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash is scented with the signature scent of Tea Tree essential oil. The aroma of Tea tree oil may be somewhat strong for someone who is new to it.
In comparison to other Tea Tree Oil products available in the market, I found this to be mild and soothing. It doesn’t even stay long after you’ve rinsed it off.
You might feel refreshed after using this face cleanser because essential oils are said to calm and de-stress the senses.
Now let us move further and take a closer look at The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash’s consistency and texture.
4. Texture and Consistency
The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash has a medium gel-like consistency that is somewhat runny. As a result, you have to be a bit careful when pouring the product.
It’s light green in color. The texture is soft, feels quite gentle, and has a cooling effect on your face. You simply need half a coin-sized quantity to quickly lather up your entire face.
After we’ve discussed its texture and consistency, let us now look at how to use it.
5. How To Use The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash
Washing your face every day is essential for maintaining healthy-looking skin. Our skin is exposed to pollution, grime, and other impurities throughout the day, therefore cleaning your face properly eliminates these impurities and gives the skin a fresh look.
Here are some quick steps for using The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash.
If you’ve put your makeup on, use a light makeup remover to get rid of it before you begin washing your face.
Wet the face with clean water.
Squeeze a pea size quantity of face wash into your palms and lather it up into a creamy foam.
Massage the foam into your skin in a circular upward motion.
Rinse with water and gently pat dry with a soft, antibacterial towel.
That’s all. You will be left with cleaner, fresher skin. This body shop face wash takes away all of your weariness, as well as the dirt and grime that has gathered over the day.
6. The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash Pricing
The Body Shop products are often on the pricey side when compared to other products available in the market.
The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash costs $8.99 in the USA and is available at most major retailers. You may get it online at The Body Shop’s website or Amazon.
The face cleanser is reasonably priced in my opinion because the bottle lasts a long time. It is available in two different sizes. In India, the price for 250 ml is ₹ 745, which has just increased marginally. The one I bought had an MRP 695. You can, however, order it at a discounted price on Amazon and Nykaa.
If you don’t want to invest in a large bottle for your first try, you can also get 60 ml for ₹ 325 only.
7. My Experience : The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash Review
The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash is a good purifying face wash, but it’s not the best that I’d suggest for everyone. Since every skin type necessitates a different skincare regimen, this face wash may not be suited for all skin types.
My skin type is dry to sensitive, thus it didn’t do all it claimed, but it did show effective benefits to some level.
How Did I Use It on My Skin?
Initially, I used it twice a day, in the morning and evening. Taking 2 -3 drops was enough to produce foam and effectively cleanse the skin. You may get a slight tingling feeling, which is quite normal.
However, using it twice a day left my skin a little dry. Because it contains alcohol denant, which may be a bit drying to already dry skin.
As a result, I preferred using this solely at night, as it was too harsh and drying to use in the mornings when my skin was nearly clear of pollutants. After that, I gently apply the moisturizer. Using a moisturizer after this face wash is a must to prevent it from escaping the skin.
Does The Body Shop Tea Tree Face Wash Work?
You will not experience immediate results within a few days or a week. You must give it a go and wait a month to see how it goes.
From all of the claims made, I was most impressed with the fact that it provides your skin with a refreshing feeling. This face cleanser, in my opinion, is ideal to use when your pores are clogged and your skin is caked with dirt and oils.
However, with this face wash, you will not be able to get rid of your active acne or pimples; it will only help to control it a bit and prevent future breakouts.
My Recommendation
It is suitable for oily skin, however if you have sensitive or dry skin, always perform a patch test beforehand.
Using a moisturiser after cleansing is recommended to keep your skin from drying out.
If you’re having small, minor breakouts, you can give this product a try.
That concludes the review! The most important thing to remember is to use a face wash and cleanser that is suited for your skin type. Don’t be swayed by flashy commercials and catchy product lines.
Let me know if you’ve used The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash and how it worked for you in the comments.
